Mekyah Q. McQueen

Q: What's your drink of choice?

A: I’m all about the bubbles. Champagne, please!

Q: What do you want to be known for?

A: My authenticity. I want the experience of me to feel distinct from any other experience of anyone else.

Q: If your life was a song title, what would it be called?

A: Dream Big by Jasmine Sullivan

Q: What's next for you to accomplish?

A: Conquering discipline. I have been the reigning princess of procrastination since I came on the scene (I arrived 6 weeks post due date), and while I appreciate the part of me who is unashamed to move at my own pace in life that ain’t always the most productive way to be.

Q: How do you take your coffee?

A: Can’t have any caffeine so I’ll have tea, please. Moroccan tea if you have it, no extra sugar.

Q: One piece of life advice you'd give our readers?

A: Spend time thinking about WHY you think/believe what you do. Make sure your thoughts/beliefs aren’t solely passed down or learned via family/community traditions.

Q: One piece of career advice you'd give our readers?

A: Strive for your best work no matter the gig. Look for opportunities to learn transferable skills, no matter the gig. Establish at least one professional relationship, no matter the gig.

Q: Where do you drink your first cup of coffee?

A: The only coffee I’ll take is during an Ethiopian coffee ceremony. It’s the best coffee in the world, argue ya mama.

Q: Give us your best toast

A: Up to it, down to it……(if you know, you know)
