About Us

  (IT'S ALL TRUE)

Randi: Our eyes met across a crowded room...kidding!

Cherrón: Goodness, we always sound like we’re dating.

Randi:  But seriously, Cherrón and I had a rocky start (cue her eye roll). We met at our job in NYC and as we all know, the minute another black person comes around, we sniff them out immediately. On this particular day, I may have caught Cherrón a little off-guard when I stopped by her cube to say hi. Needless to say I felt a very sincere "Hi, but I'm trying to get out of here, vibe"

Cherrón: I had just come out of my boss’ office and it was late, you know what never mind

Randi: So I scurried back to my desk to finish up my tasks. About 20 minutes later, Cherrón walked over, apologized…

Cherrón: I what???

Randi: For seeming standoffish and we sat and chatted for another hour! We've been besties ever since.

Cherrón: There’s a quote from a well-known television show that refers to our girlfriends as our soulmates. That is most certainly true when it comes to us (sorry Kyle/Randi's husband). Though we differ on our initial meeting (side eye to Randi) what is true for both of us is that we were seeking & praying for a certain kind of friend and found it in each other. You won’t find two women who are as much the same as they are different. There are no weaknesses here. We have been the strength that has sustained us collectively through break ups, new beginnings, marriage, divorce, moves, unemployment, fabulous trips, death, depression and leaps of faith.

Randi: Our relationship, much like the times we have seen each other through, has seen ups and downs, but what never changes is that no-matter what, no-matter where, no-matter when...if one of us calls and is in need, we are there! No questions asked!

We have had the idea (in theory) for Coffee Till Champagne the entirety of our friendship, if I am being honest. We verbalized it to each other about a year ago. We've both been going through some thangs (you'll hear about those soon enough), and if it wasn't for Cherrón pushing me, reminding me, gently nudging me and side eyeing me to start participating in our idea, this may not have become a reality.

Cherrón: Similar to the principle behind this space we have created, there is nothing unique about our friendship. Around the world there are women that have that one girlfriend (or an entire tribe) you don’t need to speak full sentences with, who is in sync with you even if she doesn’t agree with you; who you can talk about everything with and be whomever you feel like being and she loves and accepts you more for your faults then for the things that everyone else likes. And just like the stories we will ask you to share with us and your new girlfriends around the world, our friendship feels unique because it’s us.

Randi: So, here we are today, on this journey together with all of you; to laugh, bond, connect, not feel crazy or alone...because let's be honest. We are all unique, but nothing we are going through is!

Cherrón: Some of the best advice that I’ve ever been given, and give to others, is to write it down. Life is what happens from Coffee till Champagne (and back 'round again). So, write it down! Write it here. With us.
